WILMINGTON, N.C. (WRMT) – After nearly five months, the Hollywood writers strike ends, allowing them to return to work.
On Tuesday night, board members from the Writers Guild of America approved a contract agreement with studios. Both the eastern and western governing boards of the WGA and their joint negotiating committee voted to accept the deal, just two days after the tentative agreement was made with Hollywood’s major studios.
After the vote was finalized, the strike would end, and the writers would be allowed to resume work on scripts for future productions starting at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday.
The first shows expected to return to television are late-night talk shows, which the writers walked out on May 2. Scripted shows expected to take longer to return due to the actors strike still happening.
