BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WRMT) – On Monday afternoon, a $2 million grant focused on fighting substance abuse and addiction is on the consent agenda for Brunswick County commissioners to sign off on.
The purpose of creating the courts would be to help non-violent offenders with treatment, drug testing and transitional services.
The expected amount for the first payment in treatment court grand funding will be $400,000 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The remaining amount will be paid out over the next five years.
