PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WRMT) – On Tuesday, trial began in Pender County for the alleged murders involving Michael Miller Jr.
According to the Pender County proceedings, Miller Jr. faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of murder of an unborn child.
Miller Jr. is charged with the deaths of 22-year-old Destiny Denise Greene, her 26-year-old boyfriend William Lenwood Coley III and the death of Greene’s unborn baby. On Nov. 8, 2020, they were found shot to death in their home in Maple Hill.
The attorneys made their opening arguments for the case and introduced more than eight key witnesses witnesses to the jury on Tuesday. Some of the witnesses were neighbors of the victims as well as Pender County Sheriff’s deputies.
Photo evidence from the crime scene were shown to the jury and a 9-1-1 call of when Greene was found the day of the shooting. Greene originally called regarding a cardiac arrest issue.
According to deputies, when entering the crime scene, they first noticed the casing to the door to the house was broken. The crime scene where Greene was found was described as gruesome by the witnesses. She was found shot in the head in the bedroom and her boyfriend, Coley, was found dead outside in the yard.
The trial is expected to continue next week.
