WILMINGTON, N.C. (WRMT) – The Wreaths Across America program announced that for the first time in several years, there will not be enough wreaths to lay on top of all the tombstones at the Wilmington National Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 16, at noon.
More than 5,000 graves are at Wilmington National Cemetery. Since the beginning of December, donations only account for roughly 72% of all the graves. Meaning, the program is short around 1,400 wreath donations.
Gerald Decker, a Vietnam Veteran, will lead the ceremony with several other guest speakers in attendance.
Fundraising for the program begins in July and ends the last week of November.
