COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. (WRMT) — On Jan. 30, after an anonymous report, a woman from Columbus County was arrested and charged with child abuse.
According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, on Jan. 24, at around 9 p.m., deputies responded to the anonymous call that asked for a welfare check near 1000 Old Boardman Road around Evergreen and Boardman.
Deputies received multiple witness statements and informed the department of social services/child protective services that the child had been assaulted and seriously injured.
According to the CCSO, injuries were found on their head, face, front and back of their body, arms and legs.
On Jan. 30, an arrest warrant was obtained for Autumn Lee-Ann Wells, 36, of Evergreen, who was taken into custody.
Wells was held under a $2,500 secured bond and charged with felony child abuse-serious physical injury.
